GREEN® - the Sustainable Property Designation

Less than half of one percent (0.5%) of REALTORS® hold the Green Designation.  Michael Kwiatkowski is among those rare few.  In obtaining and maintaining this designation, he makes a special commitment to his clients concerned about their impact on the environment, the financial benefits of ecologically friendly properties, and the health benefits of green living.

Earning, holding, and maintaining the GREEN® designation requires actual knowledge of green practices, construction, and renovation.  Designees must attend educational classes and pass tests to certify them as a GREEN® designee.  The number of topics discussed are too broad and numerous to list in their entirety.  However, some of the topics include current trends in green construction, potential tax advantages, green retrofits and renovation, VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), asbestos, the legalities and troubles surrounding UST/AST (underground storage tanks / above-ground storage tanks), and brownfield/grayfield construction issues.  The ability to spot “greenwashing” (dubious and/or questionable claims regarding a product or service being green) is mandatory.
